Christina Propst, MD, has dedicated more than twenty-five years to General Pediatrics in Houston, Texas. Christina Propst, of Houston, has been board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics since 2001, following the completion of her residency. She has held her Texas State Medical License without interruption since 2000. Her career path includes ten years at Texas Children’s Pediatrics–Fannin, six years at Bootin & Savrick Pediatrics, and seven years at Blue Fish Pediatrics, Greater Heights.
Dr. Propst has earned recognition in her community for her data-driven approach and consistent dedication to families. She is respected for combining broad pediatric knowledge with attentive care. Christina Propst is currently a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Harris County Medical Society, and the Texas Medical Association. She has also contributed to several committees in the past, including the AAP Council on Children and Disasters, the Memorial Hermann Pediatrics Clinical Program Committee, and the Texas Pediatric Society’s committees on Infectious Disease and Immunization, as well as on Injury Prevention and Environmental Health. Dr. Propst’s Academic Life
A first-generation American born in New York City to immigrant parents, Dr. Christina Propst was raised bilingual in German and English. At Horace Mann School, she excelled academically and also took on leadership roles. She graduated Cum Laude, was a four-year varsity athlete in track and cross country, served as senior co-captain, and was president of the orchestra. She also held a leadership role in the choir, reflecting her ability to combine academic focus with broad participation in community activities.
She went on to Princeton University, where she majored in Politics and also fulfilled her pre-medical requirements. She graduated Cum Laude in 1991. During her senior year, she was selected for the competitive Princeton-in-Asia program, spending two years in Machida, Japan, teaching English. That experience enabled her to travel extensively in Asia, learn Japanese, and immerse herself in the region's culture and traditions.
Attended Medical School at Tulane University
Christina Propst, Houston, continued her training at Tulane University School of Medicine. She graduated in 1998 as a member of the top five percent of her class, earning induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society and receiving several awards in pediatrics. She then matched to her first-choice residency program in Pediatrics at Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where she completed her residency at the Texas Medical Center.
Honors and Awards
Her honors include the Herbert B. Rothschild, M.D. Award from The Greater New Orleans Pediatric Society and the Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Achievement Citation from the American Medical Women’s Association. Along with induction into AOA, these awards mark her academic strength and professional promise during her training years.
Volunteer Work and Philanthropy
She has been active in volunteer efforts during significant crises, including providing care after Hurricanes Katrina and Harvey. She has volunteered for fifteen years with Moms Demand Action and for ten years with Physicians for a Safer Future, supporting practical, evidence-based strategies for reducing gun violence.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she played a key role in public education, sharing clear information on prevention, vaccines, and treatments. Her work was highlighted in the Houston Chronicle, which also featured her advocacy on RSV, pediatric safety, and community health.
Her philanthropy extends to numerous organizations. She has supported the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, the Houston Food Bank, the Periwinkle Foundation for Pediatric Cancer, UNICEF, the Multiple Sclerosis Society’s MS-150, Habitat for Humanity, Harmony House, Interfaith Ministries' Meals on Wheels, Bike for Houston, the Hermann Park Conservancy, and Trees for Houston. Each reflects her dedication to the health, safety, and wellbeing of children and families.
Her Personal Life
Christina Propst, MD, welcomed her first child during residency and has balanced her medical career with raising a family alongside her husband. They recently celebrated their thirtieth wedding anniversary. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, gardening, sailing, traveling, and participating in outdoor activities. She continues to volunteer and to participate in her community, integrating personal and professional life in service to others.
She remains dedicated to pediatric care, public health, and community service. Her career reflects both clinical achievement and a lifelong commitment to children, families, and the greater Houston community.
